  5. Riley Guide by Margaret F. Dikel. One of the best places to start a job search. Complete list of current job sites. A-Z index useful in locating more specialized job sites.

Northern Illinois/Chicago

  1. ChicagoJobs.org: The Definitive Chicago Area Job and Career Guide by Skokie Public Library reference librarian Frances Roehm. Gateway site to Chicago area employment information. Excellent list of area networking and support groups as well as job listings by category. Use "Super Sites" to search local job listings in several of the largest job sites.
  2. Chicago Women in Trades Resource for women interested in skilled trades.
  3. CISCO: Construction Industry Service Corporation Complete list of building trade apprenticeship programs in Northeastern Illinois. Information needed by applicants including application and apprenticeship testing dates. Also includes information about local construction industry wages and benefits.
  4. http://www.workforceboardsmetrochicago.org/  The Workforce Boards of Metropolitan Chicago cover the City of Chicago, Northern Cook County, South and West Suburban Cook County, DuPage County, Grundy/Livingston/Kankakee Counties, Kane/Kendall/DeKalb Counties, Lake County, McHenry County and Will County. They link regional workforce investment activities with economic development organizations in order to support a workforce system that provides quality employees for employers and develops real career opportunities for job seekers. The developing system is intended to make it easy for business to make connections with qualified applicants and to access other vital workforce development services.
